A Barrel Full of Ideas

Barrel full of ideas“THE BEST WAY TO HAVE A GOOD IDEA IS TO HAVE LOTS OF IDEAS.”– LINUS PAULING

Ideas have legs! We often have ideas, or the nucleus of an idea and we fail to capture the thought. Journalizing your ideas is critical, especially if you’re a marketer. You’re always looking for different and innovative ideas on ways to market yourself more effectively.

I take those ideas and I will revisit them, combine two or three ideas into something brilliant, tweak and then implement.

As a sales and marketing professional, it is imperative for us to continue to distinguish ourselves as different from the competition; I am NOT interested in looking the same, being from the same mold as all of the others – as should you!  I want to be a marketing maverick; I want to stand out in a professional manner, yet I want to be so different from the mainstream and that takes MANY creative ideas!

Many have asked “Cliff, how in the world do you come up with so many creative ideas?” I don’t hold the Holy Grail on ideas; however I have trained myself to think creatively ALL of the time. Even today as I walk through the supermarket, a craft store, a trade show or even while looking through various magazines or newspapers I am collecting ideas (AND WRITING THEM DOWN) – even if it’s just a thought.  I take those ideas and I will revisit them, combine two or three ideas into something brilliant, tweak and then implement.

The first part of the process is getting the thought down on paper  so you don’t forget it; second step, tweaking the idea; third step, implement; forth step, follow up; fifth step, reap the rewards; sixth step, tweak and launch again.

Harness your creativity by writing your ideas and thoughts out. Go back, review, tweak and use those ideas to stimulate your creativity, meld multiple ideas into a great campaign that will get you noticed, set you apart and get you on the road to greater success!

Archive your ideas NOW, the more ideas; the more doors of opportunity will be made available to you!

Very special thanks to Cliff Quicksell, MAS+ for his great insight.
